My favourite part about camping was making a camp fire and eating s'mores. It was a little chilly outside at night.  Today was freezing cold, I was freezing my buns off so was my mom!

Bronte Creek - First Real Camping Trip

J had a soccer tournament in Hamilton this weekend so we booked into Bronte Creek Provincial Park for the weekend. We arrived around 6:30pm as it was not the easiest place to find even with GPS! Once we arrived we popped up the trailer pretty quickly and got set-up. We played crazy eights and then settled in for the night. It was a nice temperature for sleeping. We got up pretty early the next morning and made pancakes and bacon for breakfast. It was delicious!! Headed out to the War Plane Museum at the Hamilton Airport. We were given a guided tour by Frank who was very knowledgeable and shared some great stories about some great Canadian war heroes. After that we headed to J's soccer tournament. The weather was sunny and beautiful to sit and watch some great U12 soccer. The boys played great, especially J! Some severe weather blew in and we all got soaked in a torrential downpour! But the rain stopped and nothing stops us from playing soccer so the boys went back out and won their second game of the day. As we headed back to our camp site we were hopeful that our trailer would still be there and still intact with all the severe weather that came through!! Our wish was granted and the rain even stopped long enough for us to make dinner and make s'mores over the fire. The rain started up again so we went in and played a game of Sorry before turning in for the night. The sound of rain falling was peaceful and everyone fell asleep quickly. The rain continued through the night and with it, the temperature dropped by about twenty degrees so it was a bit chilly waking up the next morning. We packed up in the rain and headed back to the soccer pitch. All of us feeling a little damp & soggy! Parking with the trailer was a challenge but we managed to find a spot. It was a freezing cold, wet, rainy, miserable day!! I packed for cold, not rain so A and I sat in the car for about four hours (no rain coats ... Or coats in general) while J played his heart out in the rain. The boys left the tournament with three wins and one loss in the final game. We headed home and considered our first camping adventure a success. We are very excited about our next adventure ... Stay tuned!
